House of Ruth Hotline (800) 999-9999
Community Services

With Outreach Offices in Montclair and Pomona, House of Ruth’s Community Services Program offers battered women counseling, crisis management, housing assistance, and a range of services that help them work toward their goals of self-sufficiency.  Through this program, we also seek to create community awareness and improve community response to domestic violence.

24-Hour Hotline: 909-988-5559
House of Ruth’s services began in 1977 with a crisis intervention hotline.  Trained staff and volunteers provide crisis intervention, information, and referral for battered women 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Assistance is available in English and Spanish.

Classes
Many classes are available at House of Ruth.  Topics include Domestic Violence 101, Parenting, Computer Skills, Resume Writing, and others.

View this month's schedule of classes at our Pomona and Montclair outreach locations. The schedule is also available in Spanish.

Career Counseling
At House of Ruth, all clients are encouraged to set goals for reaching economic self-sufficiency.  Career services available at House of Ruth include resume writing and interview skill workshops, identification of training programs and employment opportunities, and help in obtaining appropriate work place clothing.

Housing Advocacy
House of Ruth provides clients with assistance in locating safe, affordable housing. In addition, we educate clients on tenant rights, home maintenance and safety, and how to build positive landlord/tenant relationships.

CalWORKS
House of Ruth works in conjunction with the Department of Public Social Services. Under the California Welfare to Work program (CalWORKS), women may seek assistance under a domestic violence provision.  House of Ruth provides case management for those welfare recipients who have been unable to find or hold employment as a result of abuse.

Community Education
Staff at House of Ruth give 50-100 educational presentations per year in community organizations, schools, and workplaces. Staff members also frequently attend fairs and events to provide community members with information about domestic violence and House of Ruth.

On-site Childcare
On-site childcare is available at our Outreach Offices for women who seek counseling, take classes, or meet with case managers.

Legal Advocacy
Essential to the safety of women and children is proper access to protection through our legal system. House of Ruth helps women with issues related to restraint, divorce, custody, and visitation by providing referrals to a variety of legal resources. At House of Ruth’s two Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) Clinics, women are assisted in the completion of the paper work required to file a temporary restraining order and are guided through the necessary court proceedings.
