PAST EVENTS AT HOUSE OF RUTH:

HOUSE OF RUTH'S ANNUAL GALA TOO DARN HOT!

On Saturday, May 12, nearly 250 friends, supporters and officials from the cities of Claremont, Upland and more came to the Avalon ballroom at the Fairplex in Pomona to honor the work of House of Ruth at its annual gala, Too Darn Hot: An Evening of Dining and Dancing to the Tunes of Cole Porter. The evening was a roaring success, raising over $91,000 in support of the programs and services House of Ruth has been providing to battered women and their children for 29 years, making it House of Ruth’s most successful gala fundraiser to date!

The 30’s themed evening began with a cocktail hour in which guests could have their photo taken posed alongside a classic 1930’s era Bentley while sipping champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Upon entering the art deco themed ballroom, guests were wowed by the dramatic hot pink and black décor punctuated with orchids, glowing votive candles and hundreds of glittering crystals while they browsed an elegant display of silent auction items.

Also on display were 24 select vintages with a combined value of over $2,000, hand picked to delight the most discerning connoisseur as part of a unique “wine bin” raffle.

When it came time to “Fill the Pantry” at the end of the Live Auction, guests were clamoring to make a donation that would help fill the pantry at House of Ruth’s shelters in amounts ranging from $200 to $2,500, with a total of $26,700 being collected!

Guests included Mayors Peter Yao from the City of Claremont, John “JP” Pomierski from the City of Upland, Don Kurth from the City of Rancho Cucamonga and Paul Leon from the City of Ontario, in addition to council members from the cities of Claremont, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland. Also present were the evening’s generous sponsors, including Colonies Partners’ president Dan Richards, whose generosity as the presenting sponsor helped make the event possible, and Claremont Toyota owner Roger Hogan.

House of Ruth would like to thank all of our sponsors and guests for helping to make Too Darn Hot such a fun success!
