House of Ruth Celebrates 30 Years in the Pomona/Inland Empire Region

House of Ruth is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its founding during this 2007-08 fiscal year. Board president Cecilia A. Conrad states, “We’re very proud of the programs and services we provide to families who have been victimized by domestic violence. We are also particularly grateful to the community for its ongoing support and for its generous response to our fund raising events and activities.”

Established in 1977 by community volunteers, the agency’s early years focused on maintaining a “hotline” for victims of domestic violence and providing referrals to shelters and other services. From that modest beginning, House of Ruth has grown to include a shelter with a residential capacity of 55, on-site counseling and education services, and comprehensive community outreach activities that reach over 10,000 residents each year throughout the Pomona/Inland Valley region.

Save the Dates - Dates Set for House of Ruth's Annual Events
We’ve set the dates for our annual special events, so be sure to mark your calendars! Our annual events are an important way for us to raise unrestricted funds, in addition to raising community awareness about the issues of domestic violence. This year our events are especially important, as we honor House of Ruth’s 30th year of service to the community.

These exciting events planned for the last half of our 30th Anniversary Year:

·   A Moveable Feast: Saturday, February 2, 2008, 6:00pm - locations to be announced

·   30th Anniversary Gala: Saturday, May 10, 2008, 6:00pm  – Avalon Ballroom at the Fairplex in Pomona

House of Ruth recently launched The Living Room, a new monthly eNewsletter where you’ll find information on the latest successes in the fight against domestic violence, as well as highlights on the areas where work is still needed and what you can do to help. We’ll share client success stories with you, illustrating exactly how the services House of Ruth provides are helping to change the lives of women and children for the better. Of course, we’ll also keep you up to date on all the happenings here at House of Ruth.
